Introducing the New Power Apps

Microsoft has recently released a new version of Power Apps, which includes a maker portal home screen and app templates for canvas apps. In this blog post, we’ll introduce you to these new features and show you how to create a basic responsive canvas app using the “Start with Data” button.

 

Maker Portal Home Screen

The maker portal home screen is where you can access all of your Power Apps resources. From here, you can create new apps, manage existing apps, and access other resources such as connectors and custom connectors.

 

App Templates for Canvas Apps

Power Apps now includes new default app templates for canvas apps. These templates can be used as a starting point for your own app.

 

Creating a Basic Responsive Canvas App

To create a basic responsive canvas app using the “Start with Data” button, follow these steps:

 

1: Click Here or Sign in to Power Apps



2: On the "Right Top", Make sure the "Try the new Power Apps" toggle is turned on:




3: From the Home Screen, Select "Start with data".




4: You will see the following options:



(You can select which ever you require.)


5: In my case, I'm gonna go with "Select an existing table"


6: Now the wizard will ask to select the table on which you want to build your application:



7: Let's select "Contacts" Table here:


8: On the "Bottom Right", Click on "Create App"




9: Wait for the loading to complete:




10: After that you will get your new Canvas App:





11: Go Ahead and test this application, Click on the highlighted "Play" icon on the "Top Right"





12: Here you go, Now you have your first new Power Apps Canvas Application:




13: Now all we have to do is test and explore the capabilities of this new Canvas Application.
